6 Winter Essentials to Spice Up Your Wardrobe

We know winter is definitely here when it is way too cold to get out of bed in the morning. But what are the winter essentials that should be in your wardrobe? What can keep us cosy without making us look like a sack of potatoes? We’ve curated a list of six winter must-haves to help you get through the colder days!

Puffer Jackets

Puffer jackets no doubt makes the winter essentials list. It’s warm, stylish and easy to grab on the go. The Pluto Puffer Jacket from Toast Society(1) is one of the many colourways they have available. The eye-catching big pockets at the front are super adorable and totally functional. The Track Puffer Jacket from Huffer(2) is light and aesthetic as well as water-resistant and can we all just admire the fact that it is reflective!? When it comes to Northface(3), we are all familiar with the pitch-black puffer jacket with its logo on the top left, so it is great to see that they offer its iconic style in different (and way more fun) colourways. The 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket is available in black, blue, green, purple and pink!

Knitwear

Goodbye chunky knits and hello light-weight knits. Thin knits are still cosy and perfect for layering. We are particularly fond of the Matlida Sweater II by Ruby(1), the bold colour with the ribbed cuff creates a unique silhouette and it also comes in pink! If you don’t like long sleeves and think they are quite annoying, the Greta Puff Sleeve V from Elle + Riley(2) will be your best friend. It features a soft puff sleeve with a slightly short fit, finishing off with a fluffy look which is perfect for day or night time looks. The Hometown Cross Over Lilac Sweater from Flo & Frankie(3) is a staple piece to have in your wardrobe. We love the design of a wrapped top and with a long blouse sleeve and fitted ribbed waistband, this sweater is bound to keep you warm and stylish at the same time.

Skirt

Who said no skirts for the colder days? We say otherwise! These skirts are made with thicker fabric so you can stay cosy while looking fabulous! The Wool Felt Skirt from Countryroad(1) is made from a felted wool blend with panel detailing and a high rise waist giving you that ultimate elongated silhouette. When we think of Winter, we think of leather. The Faux Leather Midi Skirt from Zara(2) is a high waisted five-pocket skirt with a sneaky front slit at the hem. Show off your legs with the Oslo Cord Mini from Gorman(3). The corduroy mini skirt is made from organic cotton with front scoop pockets that is perfect for everyday wear.

Boots

Everyone should own a good pair of boots (or two) because they are so easy to style and instantly elevate any look. Dr Martins(1) is an oldie but a goodie, the 1460 Smooth is the original Dr Martins boot with smooth leather, grooved sides, a heel-loop, yellow stitching, and a comfortable, air-cushioned sole. The design is so versatile, pair it with jeans or skirts and you are good to go. Pair the Nella Over The Knee Leather Boot from Mi Piaci(2) with a mini skirt or wear it over your jeans for the guaranteed leg-lengthening effect. If you are looking for something chic, don’t miss out on the Starr Brandy Leather Western Chelsea Boot from Wittner(3). It’s a low cut ankle boot with a pointed toe that screams sophistication.

Scarves

Scarves are the ultimate cold-weather accessory, it’s so easy to take off indoors and then to throw back on when you step outside. The Monogram Scarf from Witchery(1) is a large square scarf with cute fringing featured at the ends – it’s an effortless addition to any outfit. We are totally in love with the huge tassels on the Mohair Tassel Scarf from Seed Heritage(2). It is knitted from a premium blend of mohair and wool fibres that will keep you warm and cosy. The Mohair Scarf by Deadly Ponies(3) (yes, they make scarves now) adds a dash of colour for the Winter. The scarf is made with soft mohair wool, featuring a leather logo patch and subtle fringing detail.

Coats

Winter is not complete without a statement coat. The Cooper Coat, by Camilla and Marc, from Superette(1) has a classic silhouette with padded shoulders that is made to turn heads. The Odense Coat from Kookai(2) is a thigh-length coat with seam detailing throughout the piece. This slightly oversized design finesses its classic appeal with hidden placket detailed statement buttons and a high collar finish. Lastly, complete your winter look with a classic trench coat. The Trenchie from Moochi is perfect for layering, complimented with a detachable belt tie to highlight your waistline. The camel brown colourway is also a classic Winter essential – you can’t go wrong.
