A Luxury Sail On The Mekong River With A Culinary Flavour

Luxury Southeast Asian boutique river cruise specialist Heritage Line is relaunching its newly refurbished boutique vessel, Jayavarman, sailing on the Lower Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Jayavarman blends the timeless French-colonial style with artisan Khmer accents for a spellbinding journey by exploring the riverside village life and remarkable landscapes.

Bookings made until November can receive up to a $300 discount to celebrate its relaunch.

Since dining is at the heart of Southeast Asian culture, guests can now peek behind the curtain to watch the ship’s expert chefs in action, as the ship’s new look showcases a redesigned restaurant to incorporate an exciting open kitchen concept.

The experience also includes daily afternoon tea in the open-air terrace bar, the ideal venue to watch the world float by, private balcony breakfasts to start the day, hands-on cooking classes to master the full-bodied flavours of Vietnamese and Khmer cuisine, and extraordinary Barbecue Gala Dinners on the deck with Aspara dancers.

Guests can also choose shore excursions to learn about local culinary traditions by visiting a family-owned mango farm or a local market.

“Meandering the waterways of the Lower Mekong is a bucket list experience for many travellers, especially the growing number of people actively seeking more educational, exotic and authentic destinations, something Vietnam and Cambodia can deliver,” said Heritage Line’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Andreas Schroetter.

“This region is renowned for its flavoursome cuisine, food markets, street stalls and sellers, fisherman behind every river bend, exotic tropical fruits, and traditional local delicacies, so we’ve enhanced the culinary offering onboard Jayavarman to dial up the opportunities for guests who are keen to engage with food wherever they travel.”

Other public spaces in the Jayavarman include the timeless Club 1930 bar, the cosy library and the Henry Mouhot Lounge, which transforms into an evening floating cinema.

All staterooms and suites on board have been upgraded with new furnishings and traditional artefacts, and each cabin boasts panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows leading to balconies, whilst the exclusive Signature Suites include generous living spaces, walk-in-wardrobes, and a dedicated butler service.

All Heritage Line Lower Mekong sailings for 2023 and 2024 are currently available for booking.
