adidas has unveiled a special edition Argentina collection to celebrate Lionel Messi’s unparalleled career with the Argentina National Team.
Honouring a journey that has inspired generations of players and fans and created for a historic moment in international football, the collection will feature a special-edition match jersey that Argentina will wear during Messi’s farewell international appearance on the 6th of October.
Combining elite performance innovation with symbolic design elements inspired by Argentina’s national identity, the collection paid tribute to one of the most iconic careers in sporting history.
The design drew inspiration from the Argentina flag, reinterpreting the iconic Sun of May across the front and back of the jersey. One of the nation’s most enduring symbols, the graphic paid tribute to both Argentina and the player whose legacy is woven into the fabric of its football history.
The traditional sky-blue and white colour palette has been elevated with premium gold detailing throughout the kit, reflecting the achievements that have defined Messi’s journey with Argentina.
For this special edition, the traditional adidas performance logo has been replaced by Messi’s signature logo, celebrating the unique partnership between the player and the brand.
Additional bespoke details include a commemorative sign-off featuring the number 10 framed by laurel branches and the Sol de Mayo, while gold accents feature across the federation crest, player numbering and trim details, creating a fitting tribute to one of football’s greatest careers.
The jersey was developed to meet the demands of top-level football and incorporate adidas’ latest CLIMACOOL+ technology, using engineered stretch fabrics with 3D body mapping to improve ventilation, enhance breathability, and help keep players dry in high-intensity, high-temperature conditions.
Perforated three-stripe panels and strategically placed mesh zones further improve airflow and comfort.
Alongside the special edition match kit, adidas also presented a wider Messi x Argentina collection, including pre-match apparel, culture wear, shorts, and socks, giving fans more ways to celebrate Messi’s legacy on and off the pitch.
