‘BABADOOK’ DIRECTOR’S NEW FLICK SET TO CHILL

The trailer for the new movie by Australian director Jennifer Kent, who rose to fame with the critically-acclaimed paranoid horror flick ‘The Babadook’, has been met with excitement from fans, with one predicting the film to be “a true masterpiece.”

‘The Nightingale’ is set in Tasmania in 1825 and follows the story of Clare, played by Aisling Franciosi, an Irish convict on a journey of vengeance for her murdered husband and baby. With the assistance of Billy, an Aboriginal tracker played by Baykali Ganambarr, she sets out to punish her former Master and her family’s murderer Lieutenant Hawkins, played by Sam Claflin.

The film has already received positive reviews following press screenings, with Justin Chang of the Los Angeles Times describing it as “both a canny fulfilment and a skilful subversion of the conventions of the revenge thriller.” ‘The Nightingale’ will be released in cinemas in August.
