MUD HOUSE WELCOMES EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND

A few of the Emirates Team New Zealand crew stopped by The Woolshed, home of Mud House Wines, whilst on their nationwide America’s Cup Victory tour. For more than ten years Mud House has been the Official Wine supplier for Emirates Team New Zealand.

The Richmond Ranges framed the backdrop as some of the Emirates team and Mud House staff shared some 2017 Mud House Single Vineyard Woolshed Sauvignon Blanc and some local Opawa River whitebait fritters. The crew chatted about their adventures in Bermuda and what it felt like to lift The America’s Cup once again.

Mud House Woolshed manager, Nev Gane has nurtured the Sauvignon Blanc vines through 11 vintages and all three America’s Cup Challenges whilst being the official wine supplier for the team.

He first planted grapes on site in 2002 and each year around March the grapes reach optimum ripeness and are ready to be harvested. A slightly lighter crop this year ensured great purity and flavour. “Great attention to detail from our viticulture, harvesting and winemaking teams meant the fruit that rolled into the winery boasted great flavour and texture.” Said Nev

As the Official Wine Supplier for the team throughout the three major challenges Mud House general manager Jack Glover has thoroughly enjoyed the journey with Emirates Team New Zealand. “We’re just so proud of the team, it’s been an honour to play a small part in their achievements.” Said Jack.

The team will continue on their victory tour of the country with the ‘auld mug’ – The Americas Cup.
