Elevated 186 metres above street level, Auckland’s most exhilarating multi-sensory attraction has docked at SkyCity Auckland inside the iconic Sky Tower. Launching on 8 June 2022, ‘SkySlide’ is anticipated to become the biggest attraction in the city since the All Blacks Experience and Wētā Workshop Unleashed.

SkySlide’s futuristic technology takes riders on an adrenaline-fuelled 360-degree virtual reality tour of the skyline and cityscape via a glass slide.

With virtual speeds reaching up to 160kmph, SkySlide offers an immersive experience in a giant glass slide that weaves in and outside the Sky Tower above the bustling streets and Auckland harbour. The unique motion platform imitates the virtual twists and turns of a slide for a genuinely thrilling experience for the senses.

“We’re really excited to be opening such an adrenaline-pumping attraction at the Sky Tower. There is nothing like this in Auckland or even New Zealand,” said Callum Mallett, Chief Operating Officer, SkyCity. “The Sky Tower is a much-loved New Zealand icon. Now Kiwis can use virtual reality to fully immerse themselves in an experience that would have previously only been available in their imagination.”

The new attraction will give New Zealanders all over the country a new reason to visit Auckland and even more reasons for overseas travellers to add it to their must-do list.

“SkySlide has been in the works for a few years; opening a new attraction during a pandemic had its challenges, but we are ecstatic for SkySlide to join the Sky Tower and the world-class attractions, dining and hotels at SkyCity Auckland,” added Mallett.

SkySlide will be open from 10 am – 6 pm daily, with the last entry at 5.30 pm. Bookings are essential and can be made via the SkyCity Auckland website.

The Sky Tower is the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Nestled in the heart of Auckland, it is one of New Zealand’s most famous landmarks.
