ThunderDonk Fires Up New Campfire Coffee Whisky

New Zealand whisky fans have a new flavour to try, with ThunderDonk expanding its line-up with the launch of Campfire Coffee.

The latest release combines Colombian coffee beans, toasted coconut flakes and aged New Zealand single malt whisky to create a rich, smooth spirit inspired by evenings spent around the campfire.

While coffee and whisky might sound like an unexpected pairing, that’s exactly what ThunderDonk is aiming for. The new expression delivers bold coffee flavour with subtle sweetness from toasted coconut, making it just as enjoyable sipped neat as it is poured over ice, mixed into cocktails or served as a chilled shot.

The launch comes as flavoured whisky continues to gain momentum around the world, with the category growing faster than traditional whisky as more drinkers look for approachable and adventurous new flavours.

Joining the launch are two new campaign characters, a Yeti and his Central Otago stockman flatmate. The unlikely duo bring the brand’s playful personality to life, celebrating good mates, tall tales and long nights around the fire.

Crafted by Scapegrace Distilling, ThunderDonk first launched in New Zealand in 2025. Existing flavours Spiced Maple and Salted Caramel have already found a loyal following, with more than 5,000 cases sold across New Zealand and Australia over the past year.

The brand has also picked up two international whisky awards and continues to expand across the Tasman, recently securing a major retail partnership with Dan Murphy’s in Australia.
