Michael Connelly’s ‘The Late Show’ follows the tale of recently exiled detective Renee Ballard. After filing a sexual assault charge against a supervisor Ballard is assigned to the night shift as punishment. Tiring hours with no hope of actually finishing a case before having to hand it over to the day shift officers. But a case she encounters of a beaten prostitute left for dead and a nightclub shooting that takes the life of a young woman is simply too intriguing for Renee to let go.
