Warcraft: The Beginning

Above all else, this film is not for the critics. Warcraft: The Beginning is most definitely aimed at fans, and delivers on what the fans want to see from the movie adaptation of characters created by Blizzard Entertainment.

The incredible world of Azeroth is brought to life by new cutting edge CGI technology, with Warcraft doing an excellent job of translating video game inspired sequences into equally successful film scenes. Backed by a cohesive and compelling soundtrack, the film is almost entirely made up of visually astounding battle sequences supported by the efficient use of 3D.

Having played countless hours months of the whole Warcraft series, I immediately became entrenched in the lore of the film, torn between the struggle of the orcs trying to find a new home and the humans trying to protect their world.

While it would have been nice to see more magic, what little we did see was impressive and powerful, solidifying my choice always to play as a mage whenever I’m picking any game character.

It would be wrong to say the film is for everyone, because it’s not. But if you like to be visually amazed, or you are a fan, then this is the film for you. And for the two girls that dressed up last night, well done and I hope you loved it!
