Skin Proud’s Guide To Textured Skin

Textured skin is a common beauty concern for many, and Skin Proud’s Consultant and Certified Dermatologist, Dr Marisa Garshick, has shared the lowdown on how to take care of it through gentle exfoliation and moisturising.

“Textured skin can be considered as fine lines, wrinkles, and pores can all give the skin texture. That said, some people can also experience changes in texture that result from dry skin, breakouts or scarring. This can result from genetics and environmental factors like UV exposure and pollution,” said Garshick.

Using products that help to get rid of dead skin cells, like exfoliating products once or twice a week, helps to regulate skin cell turnover and can improve the appearance of rough and bumpy skin.

“For the face, I especially love chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid, lactic acid or mandelic acid, alpha hydroxy acids or salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid that is especially good for those with acne-prone skin.”

Skin Proud Detox Tonic is a daily exfoliating tonic blended with a gentle balance of AHAs to help clear dead skin cells and clarify pores. It is also enriched with green apple extract for an intense hit of moisture, niacinamide to balance the skin, aloe vera to cool and soothe and hyaluronic acid to plump.

Avoid over-exfoliation as it leaves skin dry and irritated, and it is essential to moisturise regularly, even for those with oily skin, to keep the skin feeling soft and smooth.

“Key ingredients to look for in moisturisers include hyaluronic acid and glycerin, which are humectants to draw moisture in and ceramides, which help to support the skin barrier.”

Formulated with a powerful four-part hyaluronic acid complex and cooling rose water to renew and restore the skin, the jelly-like Proud Sorbet Skin is a lightweight, everyday moisturiser that delivers instant hydration for a healthy glow.
