THE QUEEN’S COLONIAL

THE QUEEN’S COLONIAL By Peter Watt

In a village outside of Sydney Town, blacksmith Ian Steele works hard to care for his widowed mother. He dreams of one day serving in Queen Victoria’s army. Meanwhile, in Puketutu, New Zealand, Second Lieutenant Samuel Forbes wants only to run from advancing Maori warriors and rid himself of the uniform he never wanted. The two men cross paths one day and are surprised by the similarity in their looks. They then strike up a plan to swap lives and Steele finds himself on his way to England where he falls in love with a charismatic woman who he, sooner than he realises, has to part with to go into battle. The Queen’s Colonial tells a compelling tale of a young colonial who encounters love and war in a foreign land.
