The Ultimate Creative Christmas Treat

Bread & Butter Bakery in Grey Lynn is opening the doors to their kitchens and inviting children in for a holiday treat like no other.

Throughout December, the bakery and cafe is offering cookie decorating classes for children aged eight and above, led by owner and baker Isabel Pasch.

The classes will be limited to ten participants and will take place in a private room, adjacent to the main cafe. There will be multiple afternoon sessions on both Saturday, December 2, and Saturday, December 16.

During the one-hour session, the participants will decorate nine Christmas-themed buttery shortbread cookies. They will learn different decorating techniques, like flooding, patterns, and how to use lollies and sprinkles effectively. Participants will also learn how to fold mini piping bags from baking paper – a skill that will prove useful beyond Christmas.

Each child will get to take home their decorated cookies in a box, along with cellophane bags to put the cookies in closer to Christmas. They will also get the recipe for the shortbread and icing so they can make more at home if they wish.

More information including ingredients and allergy information can be found on the Bread & Butter website.
